Carl Ferraro Pictures Page 5
Here is a picture of my FastGrass Boat blind. I started using this blind at the beginning of the 1999-2000 season. It performed very well. I am pleased with the quality & durability of FastGrass. To support the blind, I installed a pole & rope support system like Eric used on his jon boat blind(http://www.duckboats.net/myblind.htm). I then installed 4 equally spaced metal shower curtain rings on the back of each FastGrass panel. To put up the blind, I simply clip the shower curtain rings to the support lines. I use pieces of Cerex for the top and to cover the rear deck & motor (more easily seen in the photo below). When these photos were taken, I was still using a FastGrass panel for the bow. I later changed to a large piece of camouflage burlap, which covered more of the bow & was easier to mount. I use clothes pins to hold the FastGrass panels together. Here is a quartering shot from the front.
This picture is from the rear. It shows the Cerex covers for the top and rear deck/motor. The Cerex is attached to the support lines using clothes pins. This picture also shows how the FastGrass folds over the top to break up the outline of the boat very well. Heres the blind on the water at the end of a successful hunt. When I set up, I place ~6 stout stalks of bamboo cane around the boat to hold it in place. I place 2-3 along each side of the boat and 1 on each side of the motor. With the bow into the wind, I dont have to use an anchor to stay in place. I can motor straight out & can squeeze between the two stern pieces to re-enter. I have already taken the boat out from between the stalks of cane & have taken clothes pins off the bottom of the panels, so there are gaps. |
