Been too long

Hey all.

Just checked here after too long away, obviously. Just read about Steve and not even feeling like reading thru the posts anymore.

But I did want to say hello to everyone. I?ll check back in a few days

Scott,

Yep, its been a while, hope you are doing well.

I hear yah, its still pretty hard to fathom that this community lost Steve. He touched a lot of us, some much more than others.

Hey Scott,

Hope you had a good weekend and check in to let us know how things have been going.

I am sorry that logging in and finding out about Steve online is how you found out he died. It is a sucky way to find out. I would love to see pictures of the Swiss Army egret decoy though. I don't recall that one....

Anyway, nice to see you dropped in to say hey.

Dani

Ha! To raise the spirit of the original plastic boat hating naked stump dancer himself, I?m not only going to SHOW you (which I?ll do tomorrow since it?s late here), I think I?d better SEND IT TO YOU!

The idea was mine but he?s the one who sent me the decoy outline then named it the Swiss army Egret. I just added to the a Swiss Army-ness of it

The way I see it, if you have it, there?ll come days when you want to laugh and celebrate the days of Lee Harker, Steve Sutton and even maybe Scott Odette. Pull that thing out and say, I knew these guys...and then proceed to tell the tales

It?s all yours and I can?t think of a better home

I'll shoot you a PM

You still making maple syrup?

Still lovin retirement?

We were talking about the syrup this weekend counting the years, 40+ anyways. In fact, I was just heading out to empty the sap bags and start the boiler. I was checking the weather before I did and saw this message notice.

Retirements been a blast...bought a couple new/old boats to restore. A 1967 Starcraft Jupiter and a 1963 Alumacraft F7. Been chasing walleye on Saginaw bay, drew a bear tag for the Upper Peninsula last September, carving pike spearing decoys, making lures etc etc

If you?re a FB person, check out ?Scott?s Imagination?. There?s a few photos there

Scott

Welcome back. I seem to recall you retired and then drifted away. I take it you found plenty of things to dabble in besides being online. Good for you. But now that you've reappeared please stick around and how about posting some of the fine projects of yours I found at "Scott's Imagination" on FB? Love the flag project and the Champion outboard..

Eric

Your image didn't show up Scott.

I suppose I will need to create a facebook page now to keep up with folk. I usually just facebook stalked through Steve's page when he said "hey, go check this out"...?..so I suppose I need to get off my butt and create my own facebook page.

Sounds like a fun filled retirement though....only a million more years for me

Eric - ?Drift? is an appropriate choice of words. Believe it or not, when I was still working, I managed an enormous global corporate voice and data network.

Now I can?t find the screwdriver I sat down 30 seconds ago. Not that I?m losing brain cells...it?sjust that the ones I have left seem ?lazier?

Quick question- how come whenever I type a quotation mark, it shows up as a question mark in my post? Is that a settings thing I can fix?

I?m using an iPad nowadays. Maybe that?s it

The flag was a solution to clean up a bunch of 1/2 x 2 lath strips that were taking up space in the workshop

That Champion motor was a labor of love (and Brasso)

I believe that the quotation marks turned to question marks is an Apple issue on this website. I only see that problem when I post from my phone (iPhone) and I think that is true for everyone else.

I did have that issue once when I typed a story up in Word and then copy/pasted into the text box but I was able to go back and fix it easily. I'm not really sure why it does that though

He did indeed. Hope all is well with you Carl!

Hi Scott!
Neat stuff that you are doing. Keep being creative. No real imitation fake corn but it's all good.

Scott,
Yup, been way too long my friend.
Time for you to stop into the shop.
How's Lisa?
Let me know when you can stop over and I'll be sure to have Sapphire and Tonic ready.
Might even be able to swing some cheese and crackers.
Great to see you stopping in here.
Later partner,
Lou

All is well here Lou.

Lisa?s great, busy as heck (Liberty Glass has grown exponentially, there?s lots of commercial work out there right now)

I?ll try to make it down there this spring and see how you?re doing.

Maybe bring some grandkids

Definitely bring the grandkids.
Are they old enough for Sapphire & Tonic?
Might have some pop around otherwise.
Lou

Oh, yeh.....do you have any of that maple syrup left?
When does the sap start running?
Is this winter messing the trees up?
Lou

Oh......my grandson (14) mentioned something about Unicorns the other day.
I said..."we used to be able to hunt them when I was younger."
He was a bit incredulous.
I said...", in fact, I have a mount of one upstairs".
I bought down that "Unicorn" you made up, put on the forum and I bought.
It took Sean a bit of thinking and studying before he knew I was pulling his leg.
Too funny
Lou

P.S. Say hi to Lisa for me. Glad the Company is working out well. Very cool.
