what a week, first ducks and now grouse.

Tod

It looks like you had the camp all to yourself and the hunting grounds as well. I'm guessing this is public hunting land. Do you see many other hunters?

The land I was on isn't public, it is mostly timber company land, but open to access, much of Maine is that way. There were no active bird hunters where I was, in Maine it is traditional to drive the logging roads to shoot birds off the road and I'm sure some of the guys I saw were doing that as well as looking for moose, but I didn't see a single person on foot with a dog. It is moose season and there is a reputation that it is a busy week (it was busy-ish), so the bird hunters avoid that week. I just happened it worked out well that week with my schedule, I'd plan to avoid moose season as well. It is fun seeing all the moose drug out of there whole (again a maine tradition to get them out and in the truck whole).

Looks like a great trip Tod! I sometimes wish greatly I didn't live so far south. I could make trips a whole lot easier (like to the grouse woods or the prairies) if I lived somewhere more central.

Thanks for the fall color pictures....

You have transferrable skills - MOVE while you are still youngish!!! I'm starting to feel really like I'm ready for a move, like really ready. Like starting to pack ready.

Well, I do keep an eye out for locations that are looking to hire folk who do what I do and where it makes financial sense to move (hate to move and not be able to travel to hunt). Sadly, it's a very specialized area I work in....BUT I keep an eye out frequently for places looking to hire.....

Have you decided where y'all will move?

I figured you would be keeping an eye out for a job in a better hunting location. Yes, we have a location and even a realtor, but I don't want to spot burn, lll send a pm.
