Well, we cleaned up the cork blocks and shelved them for the year. I hope to be carving soon and have a few of my own ready for next season. These were carved by Jim Romig and Jim Higgins

My son and I loaded up the BBIII with our goose spread, 22 floaters and 24 shells. I was amazed that we got it all in and there was still room for the two of us VERY big boys:)

We headed to a little beach that the geese had been sunning on and met a friend that had parked nearby and walked in. When I scouted them during the week I could see that a few had a little something extra with them. I always keep my binos in the truck :)

We set out the spread and it wasnt long before the first group worked in. Splashed 2 and low and behold some jewelry...:):) That turned out to be the only birds that worked within shooting range, so we packed her up, pulled all the grass off the boat and headed for our respective super bowl parties. Our first season had come to a close and without a doubt, my most rewarding.

on that shelf.....

Will em to me.......I figure you need to get that part done given the "no life jacket, no kill switch, everbody stand at attention"......or I'll show you're wife that picture.....

Steve

Now, now Steve if you look closely you will see thaat we are both wearing Sospender type auto inflatable belts. The no kill switch thing......I gotta figure that one out!!! As far as the wife.....Isnt that Blackmail.................You wouldnt go breaking the law now would ya????

I'll do the "blackmail" thing....

I sos thatt SOS belt thing in one of the pictures but not in the ones where you are running the boat.....looked again and it looks like instead of wearing it like a belt you just hook it through your hand warmer pocket??.....

I'm not all that familiar with that rig.....isn't it the one that you have to inflate by jerking the rip cord...then put i on over your neck?....is that possible with the strap that shuld be around your back fastened through the wader pocket?.....just asking but I know that if I go in 40 degree water the last thing I want to have to do is worry about putting the life jacket on...even if it is right there tied to my waders....and thats especially true if While I'm trying to put my life jacket on I'm also dodging a boat thats trying to run over me.......

They don't make those "dam belts" big enough for us big boys. They do inflate by pulling the cord and have been tested and will work set up the way that we wear them. AS far as the boat running me over....I need to work on that. I get the point and you are correct sir........duly noted!!

I'd miss you posting even if I did get some decoys.......

I fell out of a boat fromt hat standing up position with the tiller extender and no kill switch...heres why it scares me so much.....when it went out the motor turned as far to the right as it would go....the boat heeld over and the handle dug into the water keeping the boat in a tight spin with me inside the donut........forutnately for me the motor was on idle speed and I was only yards off the bank....way out in the river and at full throttle WHO KNOWS........like I said no place or situation to be messing with getting a life jacket "on" ......

Sorry for the nag.....had to do the same thing with my nephew this Christmas in Florida.....for the record after I told him that he needed to be wearing a lifejacket and after saying he would the very next morning he not only didn't wear it but left it in the forward hatch under then anchor.......I enjoyed watching his wife kick his ass that night.....(and I'm not even in line for decoys from him)...evil smiley-evil smiley....

Hey Charlie,

What a season. Hunting out of a boat that you built and to end it with a band. Icing on the cake.

Charlie,
Those are magnificent decoys that you use. Love the mallard, widgeon, and black ducks. Was thinking they would work great here for bringing in the Mexican ducks. Did you carve all of them?
By the way, is that the average lake side cabin that I see in the background in that picture of you two motoring across the lake?
Congrats on that banded goose. What a grand way to end the season.

Al, The decoys are carved by Jim Romig and Jim Higgins. As far as the average "cabin", some are much bigger and most of the owners(city folks) think that the bay comes with their multi million dollar "cabin"....NOT.!! They are one big PIA and they call the cops at the sound of the first shot behind their house. Of course when the police come I inform them with a laminated copy of the law, that I am well within my rights to be there. Most of the police are just not familiar enough with the game laws. I also keep the local Conservation officers #s in my phone so that they can chat.
