A nice day in the Northwest

I woke up with the mallard spinner I placed on my deck spinning like mad and cacklers going over. The maintenance guy reported his first trip to his new club a successi, including one of those cacklers to go with a mallard, pintail and others. I drove out Lincoln Creek and found my old club is still devoid of water though it is raining and blowing, so I don't feel quite so bad about not affording a membership this year. Then the mailman came with a heavy package: my author's copies of three of my recently published books: "The Duck Hunter Diaries," "Newspaper Gypsy" and "Pea-Green Boat." Somehow having them in hand makes the publication real, after seeing them advertised on Amazon. My publisher claims my cover photo resembles Uncle Si. I posted Uncle Si's photo on my Facebook page, with his lament about how hard it is to be that good looking. I sympathise. My publisher also sentot me a Mad Magazine that sends up the Dynasty folks--what is hysterically funny is that Mad has a hard time caricaturing the Duck Commander's bearded brigade beyond their own self-caricature. It's a good year to be a duck hunter, active or not. Active would be better, but not is okay too.
