Though we don't normally start our season out doing a "canned hunt" we ended up pulling a #3 picked @ one of our highly managed waterfowl management areas.
One of my guys ended up pulling out his back this week, so we opted to pass on one of the walk-in impoundments for a boat hunt.
Our other group took one of the paddle-in areas.
At 0620 the gun began to blaze & birds filled the sky.
We knew going in it was going to be a ringer/teal shoot we let the birds lite into the dekes for the first (10) ten minutes.
After that we showed them no mercy.
We had the "traveling decoys" along from one of the Florida sites so we had a little fun with them throughout the morning.
Our favorite waitress, Michelle @ Marsh Landings fell in love with him & the owner wanted to put it up on the shelve.
ML is a real "Old Florida" establishment inside a (120) one hundred & twenty year old land management building.
The walls are filled with mounts, painting & Old Florida cowboy & sugar cane paraphernalia.
If your ever down this way, stop in for a sweet tea & home made grits!!!
Off to the open marsh in the airboats in the morning.
