Well, might as well talk turkeys also...

I hunted turkeys very hard from about 13 - 21yrs old but then sparingly for the next 4yrs when I lost access to places I could hunt. Since moving back to AL 7 years ago, I had only been 2 times total until this season. I think I shared the story about taking my wife on opening day and her missing a nice longbeard but I've managed to knock down two in the past 8 days. Seems that Friday's are lucky and of course there are no more Friday's left in our season. Needless to say, the fire is back as if it never left and I'm churning at the bit for next season now! Only picture I have is this one my wife put together on some iphone app (don't judge me, ha).

Bird on the left was killed today 18lbs, 10in beard, 7/8" spurs and bird on right was killed a week ago today and had 9" beard and 3/4" spurs. The bird from today must have been quite a scrapper. You can see his far right fan feather was broken clean off and the two main/primary feathers on left side of fan were broken and misaligned. He also had a couple of cuts on his legs/feet that I assume came from a sharp set of spurs. I love mounting turkey fans so it was a little disappointing to see this one "messed up" but my kids won't care as I promised them both one this year "if" I could kill 2 birds... guess my luck hasn't run out yet.
