WOODROW UPDATE?

Well, still no wood ducks taken over him yet, but he's been stackin' up the coots...

Mostly open water hunts. A couple of wood duck specific hunts to no avail.

I spoke with Eric Patterson and he said that due to his limited opportunities to hunt, that I should just keep him through his turn.

It is my understanding that he is here until the first of the year and then he heads to Ron Smith. Please let me know if something has changed.

Jon

Is your life insurance up to date? Have you had a cardiac stress test recently? My normal woody spots are not exactly producing but there is one area I know that seems to have a few woodies, never a lot but always a few, well into the season. It ain't for the faint of heart. Sat morn, you in? Bowen knows CPR if that makes you feel any better.

All is well, but my decoy making confidence is really starting to slip.

He should ship out to Florida on the 2nd to Ron, then Ron and Hitch should fight over him until it leaves Florida to make sure he's in Dave's hands in Oregon on Monday the 22nd.

Ron, Hitch, and Dave.

Eric -- I would normally take you up on your offer, but we are supposed to have some bad weather moving in here Friday afternoon and lasting all day Saturday. I even had to cancel my trip to KY because of it.

Jon

All I saw was chance of rain and warm. What did you hear? I was thinking we could make a day of it of Sat. If we don't do any good in the morn there is a good button bush beaver pond for the afternoon.

Dave,

I hope Jon and Eric get to shoot some woodies over Woodrow. I know Hitch has some good woody spots down his way too. Wolamona and Wilbur are doing fine and now have a hen woody living with them on teh pond. This hen shows up every morning by herself and even whne all the other woodies fly off, she tends to stay all day. She swims up between Wilber and Wilamina and tucks her head under her wing and goes to sleep. I'll have to get a photo of her slepping with the decoys....too funny!

I hope Woodrow arrives on schedule as I will only have a few days to hunt him before our season ends. Our recent storms have been bringing new birds in. I saw some new flocks of bluebills, ringnecks and hooded mergs today. It was 18 degrees this morning and the ponds are starting to freeze over a little.

I saw Spider Man holding Woodrow the other day! Not sure if that was in the plan,but...Fine looking decoy. Jon left out the part about him missing a water wack on a drake woody that was in plain sight of Woodrow. There should have been a woody killed over him.

It is WELL documented in the Journal that is travelling with Woodrow. EVERYTHING is well documented, Jason (including the part about me being the only one to shoot at that wood duck because you were still reloading from missing those mallards --- huh? what's that??? no comment?? And, yes, he did sit in the decoys, but that sucker was approaching mach 2 by the time I got off my butt and launched some steel at him. That was another fun morning. I still can't believe that I missed that bird, though...).

"the rest of the story" BWAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA (If you are too young to recognize the catch phrase in quotes, too bad.)

The rest of the story is too long. I do recall ringers and ringers and another pair of ringers that were gunned and maybe another coot or 2. And the story of woodrow continues. As for spiderman only Jon has evidence of woodrow stuck in the web

I've got lots of pictures -- I'll post them when I get back in the office on Tuesday. No way am I trying to upload them on a dial-up connection.
