My hunting partner havested a very strange duck last weekend (on the right); just sent me the pictures. The duck was taken with a mottled duck drake. It looked like a mottled duck hen, except that it had white on the top of the head and some white around the eyes. Also, it had no white bar under the speculum. And, there were some dark feathers under the wing. It was small for a mottled duck, but the speculum made me think black duck. We had one bird last year that may have really been a black duck. It was huge. What do you think this is? Some hybrid I imagine, park duck x mottled?
