New layout

Nice work Phil. I know that?s much different but Ive been thinking about building a one man layout. Is the layout you built your design or from a set of plans? Any recommendations on plans?

Busick plans are some of the most commonly used, I believe. Are you looking for low weight or high durability.

I see waterfowl works sells the Busick plans. That looks to be about what I?m looking for. Lighter weight would be better for sliding it up onto my tender.

Tom, make sure you verify space in a Busick. Some of the Erie style boats are really tight.

You can buy the Busick place s for $60. I think the plans are fine... but by changing construction methods you can reduce the weight quite a bit. , As well as modify to fit you.

Dave, thanks for the heads up.

Phil, what changes to the construction method? I haven?t bought the plans yet but did a little research. Looks like 1/4 ply and glass with some framing. And btw sorry for the thread hijack

Well.. if it 150# as advertised, and by the pictures on the WW site, I thought it looked more like a bunch of 2x supports. That would be something I would look to change. Anything over 100# get to be a bear if you are pulling it into the boat to transport.

Thanks Phil. I?m looking forward to see the rest of this build. How will you be transporting this one?

Funny Dave. It will go down the road on top of the Honker. I intend to motor with it on the Honker...deploying it will be easy enough... The trick will be to get it back on top to take home . I am still working out those details.
