I'm guessing the birds you got were the Model 96 - which Herter's began selling in the 70s, I believe. I have no experience with them. Sounds like your experience was truly "dispositive" - as my lawyer friends would say.

I found a third Model 59 Redhead/Bluebill on-line recently. The decoy price was even less than the shipping.


Since I have a pair now dressed up as Broadbill, I decided to keep him as his original species.


Here is as he arrived a week or so ago. No cracks - but head/neck moves a bit - thin plastic there? Paint looks original - but I cannot be certain. He's about as old as I am.....
