I need to install a kill switch on my 91' Johnson 40. This motor was originally a remote motor and was converted to tiller with an Evinrude tiller. In the place where the kill switch should be, they installed a pr of switches for the power tilt. They also fabricated an aluminum box below the shifter to house the key switch that also is the electric primer. I think I may have a couple options to add a kill switch. The end of the tiller has the friction tube, but is empty. It looks like it is similar to other smaller OMC tillers. Another thought was to replace the key switch with one that does 3 functions, the key, primer, and kill?
Where can I find a schematic for my motor? I have searched several sites without luck. I have also looked for a repair manual, but can not find a factory manual, just the Seloc which is rather generic!
I expect I will be doing some cleaning up of the work previous owners have done. There are several wires that end, and I would like to tuck them away, but would really like to know what they served, though everything appears to work as it should currently.
I spent Friday replacing the water pump, lower unit fluid, fuel filter, adjusting the pivot friction, and greasing all the fittings. Will grab some new plugs and fuel line next to move the tank to the bow.
If you have any suggestions, I am open!
Thanks,
