Battery operated chainsaws

Hope your new saw works well for you Dani. I've never seen a tool that uses two large batteries, I'm curious how that equates to battery life, both per charge and lifespan. If they're connected in series, two 20V = 40V, but Amps remain the same. Connected in parallel it's the opposite.

Pretty sure battery powered hand drills are right up there with sliced bread. I'm slowly moving toward all battery powered hand tools but hadn't given any thought to a chainsaw. I'm in the Tim the Toolman shop, more power! Nothing screams "cutting wood" like a big gas powered saw winding up, pulling chain across a 24" or larger bar! I suppose the electric saws will catch up as battery technology advances, I'll keep an open mind. I guess it makes sense, the ice auger I've been using for ice fishing since 2013 is battery powered, drilling holes in the cold is tough on batteries.

I had heard somewhere about the lack of protection from electric saws that chaps afford, that's concerning. Some smart kid will probably figure out a solution soon, but as always keeping your body parts out of the line of fire is the best defense. Be careful with your new toy and enjoy.
