Time to get an old friend out of storage

I have more than one boat in which I can duck hunt. This one has been sitting idle for a few years now and it was time to get reacquainted.

I knew it was going to need a few things. Some wear on the hull bottom called for some fiberglass work. Which was followed by 4 coats of Pettit oil based marine paint. This was given an appropriate time to cure before a self adhesive strip of keel guard was installed. Then, before flipping the boat back upright, the bunks were given a fresh covering of carpet.

Sorry I didn't take any photos along the way.
I built this worn area up with six layers of chopped strand matting.

Much better now, ready for another 11 years of service.

Of course the trailer needed some attention too. Checked the hubs, cleaned out all the old grease (no water intrusion but the grease was starting to breakdown) installed new seals and packed with fresh lithium based grease.

Took a look at the tires too. Date code says the tires are 16 years old, so the rig is now sporting brand new rubber. (I hate blowouts)

Spent part of yesterday and part of this morning, filling the grassing rails. I think it is ready. [cool]

No, I did not neglect the engine. The 15hp Yamaha has been stored inside and hadn't been run for about 4 years. So, earlier this summer I put it on one of my fishing boats and gave it some exercise. Runs like a fine watch.

I plan to skip opener, leave the weekend hours to the working group. I'll probably go out the following Monday or Tuesday.

Hope everyone has a safe and productive season.

Of your boat? Is it a protective item for beaching it?

Yes, competitive product similar to "Keel Guard" brand. Found it on Amazon; Amazon.com: PereGuard Kayak Keel Guard 4" Width Black (10) : Sports & Outdoors
I believe but can not confirm, that the "Keel Guard" brand may be a thicker product.; Amazon.com : KeelGuard by Megaware - Boat Hull Protector (Choose Length & Color) (Almond, 4') : Sports & Outdoors
