Pumping water out of pit

Seems like there should be a siphon option with a pump attachment to get it primed/started. Would be slow, but easy and light.

Would be great especially if could use something with a larger diameter to increase the siphon rate. Be interesting to figure out exactly how many gallons per minute.

the ones I found yesterday are 7 gpm. Under "A". I have no idea what else is out there better.

We have a 7' diameter x 20' long tank pit blind with a 12V bilge pump mounted under floor boards that is primarily used to pump rain water from bottom of pit. Same pump has been under floor for last 15 years. The blind has completely flooded a few times during that time and when it does it takes about 6 hours to pump out with this arrangement.

Can't remember size of bilge pump, but I am sure it is not the largest available. If you want the water out quickly you will want to use gas powered pump.

We have siphoned out part of the water, but we can only siphon a couple of feet of level.

Hope this helps.

One more this one is $118 I'm sure its no honda but I'm not sure what your looking for a clear water pump should work fine so long as your not trying to pump mud.

Thinking this is the route to go. I can ruin 4 of these for the cost of one of the Honda ones. Can get them for just under $100 with free shipping on ebay. Thanks for the heads up!

Get yourself a floating decoy sled. Put your pump in that and drag it across the water or mud. Pretty easy!. I use to use mine to take a heaters and stove to my blind. Keep it right in the pit until you leave.

Sounds great but I am putting in a two man 8' pit so going to be a little short on space. Leaning hard toward one of those 1" clear water pumps since they weigh about 15lbs total and can pump out the pit in 1/2 per my best guess.
