a. Each team will consist of three people
b. 25 teams is the maximum number of teams

2.The event will start at 9:00 on July 18th

3.All teams will send a team representative to the pavilion at 8:00 a.m. est. to take part in a contest walk through and pull an order number from a “blind draw”. This number will determine the order in which the team begins the contest.
a.There will be a demonstration for both shooting events during the walkthrough- Flurry and Rig Setup
b.It will be up to the team representative to explain the rules of the contest to his team members. The WBC will explain the rules once more in the bull pen of the calling contest.
c. Any arguing, aggressive language, or “Tom Fullery” toward any WBC official during the contest by any member of a team or well wishers will and can result in a team disqualification.

4.The contest will use groups of five rotating through the bull pen of the calling contest to move the event forward. Example: teams 1 thru 5 will begin the event at 9:00 in the bull pen. Once team four enters the calling arena teams 6 thru ten will be asked to report to the bull pen. Any team missing their scheduled report time will be DQed from the event.

5.All scores will be kept silent throughout the event and tallied by the WBC score keepers once the last team has finished the last event. Scores and the award presentation will be posted one hour after the completion of the event.

6. Calling Contest:
a. Each team will perform back-to-back 75 second Team Hunt Duck Routines and 75 second Team Hunt Goose Routines.

b. Judges for the Calling Contest will be chosen by the WBC

c. Five teams will enter the bullpen (with calls, guns, and gear).

d.All teams will be explained the rules of the calling contest, shooting contest, and decoy setup again while in the bullpen.

e. Once a team steps on stage they will begin Team Hunt Duck calling routine.
1) The Hunt Duck routine will be scored on the scenario of being in a duck blind and seeing ducks at a distance. The team will call at those ducks to get there attention. The team will then greet and feed call the ducks as they work over the decoys. Then the ducks get spooked and leave and the team will have to call them back and finish them into the decoys. The teams contest routine will be scored on a basis of 1-10 pts.

f. The team will remain on stage once their Hunt Duck routine is complete. The team will be given a 30 second break and warm up session before they begin their 75 second Hunt Goose routine.
1) The Hunt Goose routine will be scored on the scenario of being in a layout blind and seeing geese at a distance. The team will call at the geese to get their attention. The team will greet and feed call the geese as they work over the decoys. Then the geese get spooked and leave and the team will have to call them back and finish them into the decoys. The teams contest routine will be scored on a basis of 1-10 pts.

g.The team will exit the stage and return back to the bullpen where they will retrieve their guns. The team will be escorted by a WBC official to the next stage of the contest. A ten minute travel clock (travel time for all three stages) will begin once the team leaves the bull pen to the next event and before the next group of callers enters the stage. Teams will be penalized 1 (one) pt for every second they are over the 10 minutes on their travel clock at the end of the event. These points will be deducted form their final scores.

7.The Flurry:
a.The team will proceed to the east side of the complex to a designated shooting zone to participate in the 30 bird flurry. (When the team arrives to the shooting area the travel clock will stop once the team reaches the designated time marker, and begin again once they have finished there round and crossed the time marker to head to the retriever series.)
b.The Flurry will consist of three different types of blinds and hunting situations. A layout boat, a layout blind, and a brush blind with bucket (shooter must sit on the bucket while shooting). The blinds will be positioned at trap stations 1, 3, and 5 for the contest.
c. All teams will be given 36 shells (12 per shooter). The shells will be pre-chosen by the WBC committee and will be non-negotiable. The shooters must use the shells provided by the WBC for the triathlon. This is to ensure the spirit of fairness. (12 gauge 2 ¾ inch 7 ½ shells)
1. The two extra shells per shooter (6 per team) are bonus shells to use during the flurry incase the shooter drops a bird. In the event a team scores a perfect 30 birds down, the team will receive 1 bonus point for every bonus shell left un-shot after the shooting portion of the triathlon. For example: team scores a round of 30 birds and used 30 shells plus 2 bonus shells (32 shells), the team will receive the 30 points for the round plus 4 bonus points for the shells left un shot. If the team does not score 30 birds broken, the team will be penalized 1 point for every bonus shell used during round. For example: team scores a round of 28 birds and used 4 bonus shells (32 shells), the team will receive 28 points for the birds broken, but will be penalized 4 points for using 4 bonus shells. Total round score will be 24.
2. A team must score a perfect 30 birds broken to receive bonus points.
3. One plugged gun per shooter.
4. Birds broken by trap thrower will be left to the discretion of the shooting team- a decision must be made prior to the shoot. If the team chooses to shoot at the broken bird this will be treated as if it is a normal clay. The team must hit the broken pieces to tally a score. The team may choose to ask for a “no bird” call- the teams must sit idle while the trap is being cleared- shooting may begin again once trap is cleared. There will be no point awarded and no point deduction for the “no bird” call. A fresh bird will be thrown to account for the broken bird.

d.Once gear is stowed, shooters take positions and load their guns and the round will begin. Shooters will not be allowed to see “a pair”. Shooters will be shooting a simulated hunting situation. Where seeing “a pair” is not feasible.
e.Two scorers will score the round while a WBC official controls and throws the trap.
1) The trap speed and fight pattern will be set by the WBC to simulate fleeing and passing birds.
2) A WBC official will control the throwing mechanism. The speed at which he throws the birds will be random and non-negotiable. Roughly 1 to 2 second splits between birds.
3) The scorers will tally the round and all decisions on broken birds will be final and are not to be negotiated.
4) Score cards will stay with the scorers and will not be discussed with the teams.
f. Once the team as completed the Flurry the team will secure their guns and gear and move on to the west side of the course to the goose field with their appointed WBC official to begin the final stage of the contest.

g.Travel clock will begin from previous stopped time once the team has finished their round and cleared the travel marker. The clock will continue until the team reaches the final stage. Remember, every second a team goes over in travel time will result in a 1 point deduction from their final score.

8. Decoy Setup Event:
a. The Decoy Setup portion of the event will be a timed event and begin following the shooting portion of the WBC Triathlon.
b. At the conclusion of the Flurry the group will move to the Decoy Setup portion of the event. This will be the final part of the WBC Waterfowl Triathlon. The travel clock will be stopped once the team reaches the final stage. This time will be documented on the teams score card and deductions will be made by the Triathlon Score Keeper if necessary.
c. At this site there will be three layout blinds and 36 full body goose decoys.
d. The team will have five minutes to set the blinds up and create a workable decoy spread utilizing a kill hole and the day’s weather patterns (wind). Every 30 seconds over the five minutes allowed will result in a 1 pt deduction to the team.
1. Teams will place there gear and guns at the starting line.
2. A Judge will give each contestant a live round (2 ¾ inch 7 ½ 12 gauge low brass load) to be used later in this portion.
3. A Judge will sound the beginning of the event and clock. Teams will have five minutes to setup the layout blinds and place three dozen full body goose decoys into a workable spread.
4. Once blinds and decoys are set the team will move their gear and guns to the blinds. Stow gear, load guns, take cover and call incoming flock.
5. The incoming flock will be four clays thrown to the team. Each bird is valued at five points but there is a twist. One of the clays will represent a hen. Shoot the hen and the team will be deducted 20 pts.
e. Once guns are cleared and stowed the team will enter a bull pen while a judge rates the decoy spread for wind direction, kill hole, realism, and workability. The judge will give the team a score based on a scale of one thru ten. Ten being a perfect setup.
1. This score is final and non-negotiable! There will be no debating or arguing with the judge over the score given or the team will be DQ’ed.
f. The Decoy Setup score along with the Flock Shoot score will be tallied on the score sheet along with any deductions the team incurred during the event. The time judge will tally the score and keep the score card. The teams travel time will be added to the score card as well. Any time over the ten minutes allowed will result in a 1pt deduction for every minute over the ten allowed.

9. The finish:
a. Once a team has completed the Decoy Setup event the team may go and enjoy the rest of the WBC and take part in the seminars, raffles, and other events.
b. Once the last team finishes the Decoy Setup round. All scores will be tallied by the WBC score keeper to determine the top three teams.
c. One hour after the last team finishes the event scores will be announced and awards will be presented to the top three teams.
It's all in good fun, but bring your A game....you're going to need it!!!
