South Dakota's Ducks

My hunting buddy from the 1950's sent me a newspaper clipping from the Watertown Public Opinion. In it they stated that the duck population of SD is three times higher than normal. The long term average of breeding ducks is at 2.2 million. This year it is at 5.8 million.
Last year they had 13,873 resident hunters and 4,010 non-resident hunters.
Good luck to any of you who are heading that way this fall. Too bad that we don't get any of these ducks in our area.

Should be a good year. Up until last week I hadn't been seeing many sucks but in my area there is a lot of water so they could be hiding. Saw quite a few last week, many looked like young pintails so that is good. I'm hoping we dry out a little or they might be spread out.
