Thanksgiving

I am a lucky man

I have a lot to be thankful for.

My mom (in her young 70’s came up to spend the holiday with us.)

She loves running the hounds and is a shoe in for any walk we go on.

She doesn’t care if it is raining, or snowing, or dark, or 102*. She suits up and shows up. We always make a point of going for a long walk with the hounds.

I am thankful for her.

Recently I picked up a young dog named Kaden.

He seems to appreciate our time together, and is responding well to our time afield.
I am thankful for him.

He has a great gift.

He is able to fly just above the grasses, and across the water.

He seems to enjoy Ginger as a companion,

He likes to try to find the Bufflehead I have stashed in my pocket.

He is a boisterous ruddy lad.
It is a lot of work to run his batteries low

and it is a great pleasure to be with him and my clan under the alders along the creek.

I am thankful for a chance at a moment with all of them in my favorite place.

I’ll pitch the fetch across the water and under the Maples on the opposite shore.

Kaden’s afterburners lit up.

It seems as though no amount of ice cold creek water can cool the fire he has,
And I am thankful for it.

He is a good dog, and is just getting started.

My best friend Anya (also my wife) encouraged me to take on a new dog.
I am thankful for her.

I am thankful for Ice instead of mud.

And a dog that is willing to sink his junk in the frigid waters just to see what is on the other side

Even if it just the shine off of the ice.

I am thankful for the reminder that it is cold out, but the shake off from the soaking dog was enough to tell me so.

I am thankful for enough food to let the tree drop a few for the deer

And tonight I am thankful for a pair of “ragdolled” pups

right here.

Happy Thanksgiving Todd! All the best! Your words make me think and laugh, and your pictures are always great to see; always a little bit more, it seems, into your life.

Thank you

Anthony

It's been a spell,

Mom is still rock solid and sharp as a hook,
Kaden (the red dog) is older, but still full of fire.

Going to try to get the boy out tomorrow for some shrooms along the rivers edge.

We've had a blast of warm weather (70*) when it should be 37*

might kick off some shaggy manes.
Might just throw my steelhead gear in the truck too.

I always tell myself I'll only fish an hour or so.
I seem to always break that promise

good luck with the shaggy manes, the most prevalent lie in any mans life is, "just one more cast"

have a good holiday!

Happy Thanksgiving to everyone, take a minute and really think about it. I for one have more to be thankful for than a lot of folks. All of you here are on that list of those things I am grateful for.
