What Camera?

Hey guys, Ive seen some real nice photography work on here. The wife wants a new video camera. I would like a digital SLR camera. I've heard the quality of video on DSLR cameras is comperable to a video camera. Can I take fairly long videos? What would be a good camera, make and model to get. I don't want to break the bank, maybe up to a grand. I could buy the zoom lens after. Do the higher end cameras come with a lens? As you can tell I know nothing about these, but I love looking at the quality pictures on the site. Thanks Any input would be appreciated. Thanks Rich.

from what I understand as I am no expert on SLR's I was speaking to my buddy who is a professional wildlife photographer some of the higher end cameras have excellent HD video capability, I would look at either Cannon or Nikon. Nikon is better quality and has better quality lenses but Canon is more affordable. If it's within your budget you cannot go wrong with a Canon 50D

This is a Dodge/Ford/Chevy issue.... but I have a Nikon D300s.... takes 20 min video.... um... I am sure the lower Nikoin have it too... D90... D5000 As far as lenses.. You can buy just a body.. or you can get a kit... there are tons of options, no matter what brand you go with.... Nikon and Canon are the Big 2 in the camera world.
