Just showing off and "struttin" a little---

To watch a pair of sandhills go through their courtship ritual is indeed a gift if not one of those unique things in Mother Nature that just makes you plain lucky to have observed. I tried to capture some of this on the camera.
Took these shots yesterday at Bosque del Apache.

This is so cool when they both put their beaks in the water.

Al, did those two cranes just basically jump up and down, or "put your left in and right foot out then you shake it all about" type dance? Any rythm to their ritual?
Thanks for posting.

thanks Al when I get tired of my newest dog photo I will have one of your sandhill photos as a screen saver!!

Great pics Al....but stop screwing around, Chili wants you to put down the camera and take a crack at that duck sneaking behind those cranes. dc

You have a very nice camera, but that doesn't do anything for composition. You demonstrate an extreme talent in framing shots that have an ability to realy provide the feeling of the event. This series did not dissapoint, as usual. My wife is not into ducks, or duck hunting. But if I tell her you have a new post on here, she logs on to take a look.

Thanks for making our day a bit brighter.

Kevin,
I think they are beyond the Hokey Pokey----more likely into Stravinsky! Very much into rhythm.

Well, Tom, I don't think I would ever get tired of my new dog! Glad you found some pics you liked.

Dave, had I done that I would still be in jail! Once in a while I'll bring Chili along but it normally drives her nuts to see all of the ducks and geese.
