tall ship out of the water - Mystic

As a young kid in 1965 our family took our first cruise which included spending a night docked at Mystic Seaport on Dad's new 28' Henry Luhrs jersey sea skiff. One of these days I post up a picture of that boat, but I digress.

Any way I have a great pull to Mystic and often stop there on trips to and from the Cape. Now I look forward to seeing posts here from New England.

Earlier this week I drove my mother back to the Cape from Phila and stopped in Mystic for lunch and while winding our way back to I-95, I came across this site and quickly took a this photo. It was so cool, I took another look yesterday on my way back.

John very cool. I think most folks from parts of the east coast have been to Mystic. As a teenager in 1976 my father took our family of 7 kids and packed us into the old Buick estate wagon and off we went. The Liberty Bell, New Smithsonian Air and Space (one of the first 200 in the door) but the most impressive place for me was Mystic Seaport. I had loved it. The ships, the sea. I stop by on my way to Boston for business once in a while and I still love it. Thats a great photo, would love to see that ship when its completed. Thanks for sharing.

John,
My parents house is just across the river. I live about 3 miles form there. Next time you come for lunch give me a call. It would be fun to talk ducks and garveys.

Bob... we had 2 huge trees removed from our factory's property... two big oaks... that were allowed to grow without too much interference over the last 30 years... so they were straight and tall.

We discovered later that the wood was sawn in long lenghts and donated to the Morgan... which we thought was pretty cool.

Good pic... Andrew

Hi John - I don't know if you ever saw the movie 2012. Got the cd in my stocking. Scary flick! I'm in Oregon but if the ground starts moving I'm going to find that ship!! Great picture!

Captain,

I agree that the picture does not provide the impact of seeing the ship in person. Here is another picture with a car in the foreground which gives some perspective to the massive size of the ship.
