freighter canoe wanted

Keep an eye on "Uncle Henry's" and Craigs List in Maine, NH, VT.

It is a tough boat to hunt out of- tough to hide and gets killed by the wind, FYI. I hunted mine this year w/ a 15 on it.

John,

Do you have any experience with the 16' duck canoe by Scott? I have been eyeing one of those for a while now.

Todd- I know two guys that have them- neither uses them to hunt, only to fish. Depending on the water you hunt, might be a good cross-over boat. Well though out floor plan, gun storage in the gunnels, etc. We lookd at them, but decided the Hudson Bay was a better choice all around- more cargo room, more sea worthy. We had our canoe 4 miles out in Cape Cod Bay last May chasing stripers in a decent swell and two miles out into the Atlantic in a rockin' swell with no worries.

Thanks John for the info.

Bob, sorry to barge into your post. Good luck with you hunt for one!

I (we) have the Hudson Bay. It is a beast. Can't get a pic to upload- too big....

We are planning a couple of Lake/River excursions this summer- three guys and all of our toys. Rides nicely, but can be a bit wet.

I used to have a 17' Mad River Canoe Duck Hunter. It was a toten' son of a gun. Super stable too. I'd highly recommend looking at one.

Grace and peace,

David

I have a 19 grumman squareback and it fits the bill on most days. The freighter is for the rest of them.

Bob:
I have a MINT 15' Square back "Preditor Canoe" by Old Town, Custom Camo Painted. Purchased through Orvis with many extras: Pair of oars, woven grass, ancor, oak seats, extremely steady, custom snap-on storage, custom camo seat, ect. I can email pictures. 1,275.00
This fiberglass "Preditor" is awsome. I have it listed in Duckboats classifieds, including specs.
