AA broadbill motor question

I got an aa broadbill last year and never hunted it, I have a 15merc on it, wondering if I can use a mud motor or electric trolling motor? I hunt in weeds and mud, outboards cannot go in that area. Can I use as layout boat in open water, I heard they are pretty good for layout shooting?? Thanks again

Jess, I have one also but have no experience w/ mud motors. The areas I hunt don't call for one. I would think they would work as the mlb Zack boats were sold as package with on them(similar) design. I would look at the weight to HP ratio between Outboard and mud to determine what would comparable. I would not expect the handling and speed to come close to your 15hp. A full load and Dog I get 19mph GPS with a 15 2stk merc. For the trolling motor you could make a bracket to side into left or right handle on the transom. If seen some made on here by other members on there BBSB's .
Since you say you didn't get out with last year w/boat I would go out this summer after vegetation has grown in and test to see if it is a problem. There are some weed beds I go through but rarely do I have a problem wrapping weeds around the prop.

Jess, I have one that I built . A 25 Evinrude pushes it 28 mph on the GPS. Never used either an electric or mud motor. Never layout hunted in it since it is not legal here. Good Luck, I think you will like the boat.
