True Love or Just Plain Dumb!

About a month ago, my wife asked if I would be able to help her and the local art club that she belongs to this fall. Her art club would be doing some plein air painting (painting outdoors). They have one spot picked where a 4 wheel drive vehicle would be necessary to get them where they wanted to set up their easels.

I volunteered our Kawasaki Mule. I can take three or four passengers plus store all of their painting gear in the back end. Bev was most pleased.

Just two days ago Bev told me at supper that everything was all set up and ready to go. The brochures are printed and now all they have to do is wait until the end of October. "What do you mean, the end of October?", I asked. "The day we need your help will be the morning of October 26th, which is a Wednesday," she said.

Damn near with tears in my eyes, I said, "Hon, that's the first day of duck season this year." I must be getting older!

Oh, he is going to be hearing plenty to "hen clucking" on the ride. Hahaha ha ah aha haah ah aha

Sorry to hear it Al, but you could have Bev drop you off at a honey hole before light and she could take the mule :).

Beautiful picture, I think that is a Variegated Frittilary, but I'm no expert.

Here's a plan Al, take them out on the 25th, leave them there with tents and provisions till the end of hunting season!
sounds like a good idea to me.

Al,

It has to be true love. My wife pulled a similar one about 34+ years ago. She "chose" opening weekend to give birth to our first born daughter. I guess I have to take partial blame because nine months prior, my thoughts were not of duck season. :>)

On the one hand, Al, I am sympathetic with your angst. Opening day is special and it really doesn't matter if we bag anything does it? It's the whole idea of a new season getting underway.

On the other hand..................you already have a 107 day season while I have to get by on 60 so quit your whining.....................I'm not listening :)

It's at times like this, Al, that you need to remember that one key fact : you're RETIRED. Therefore, it's no big deal. Retirement turns everything like this into a win/win. ;-)

Hate when that happens!!! You are going to be bummin big time brother! Just imagine if its real ducky weather while you drinkin your coffee in the morning. I feel for you Al:)

Retired?, 107 day season? Oh ya I forgot about that so on second thought Al,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, quit your whining!!

BTW; When you are young and don't want to work, you're "lazy" when you are old and don't want to work, you're retired. I am 59 and don't want to work. What does that make me? ( and I know dang well I will regret asking. )

Well, Dennis, I know that I will just have to suffer on that day. However, I do believe that I will somehow make up for it before the season ends.

You nailed it on the "hen clucking"! These gals want to get out to this spot for the early light so I am at their mercy. Glad you like the picture.

Good idea, George. That would be about 95 days in a tent, however.

I'm a little confused----you say you "guess" you should take partial blame??? That was funny!

Well, Pete, you have me figured out! I do realize that I should never complain "but" on the opener?

Thanks for telling me that I am retired. Sometimes I forget. I do agree with the win/win situation.

Dave, At your young age that must make you just plain lazy;-)). I on the other hand will be retired;-)

Hey, Tom, good to hear from you. How's everything in Big Stone county?
