Can I put a heavy bodied acrylic under oil based paint? I believe i can so correct me if I'm wrong,i don't want to find out the hard way. thank you, Mike

My sugestion would be to do a test. Pick a spot where it won't do any harm let it dry and see what happens. However I'd like to know how you can put the the acryllic under the oil based paint?

Yes, as long as the acrylic base coat is dry/cured. We've done it often....FME over Goldens Regular Gel Matte. Gunners & Mantle birds, no problems.

Actually the rule is that latex can go over over oil, but oil can't go over latex.
Latex adheres to the surface. Oil needs to soak in.
So you can't put oil over a surface that it can't soak into unless the latex is in horrible shape, or at times by lightly sanding it and making the latex base more porus it will work.
Hope that is all clear.
