Boat color

What color should I be painting a boat that I will be hunting in flooded corn and the marsh in mainly around Harsen's Island in Michigan. I have to sand the boat down because I just bought it and the guy that painted it recently did not seem to prep it and the paint is flaking off easily. So I was thinking Light Brown or Olive drab. Lou from Lock, Stock and Barrel http://www.lockstockbarrell.com/ suggested the Starcraft Light Brown #26 color because everything in the corn and marsh are light brown by the middle of October, but I was wondering why so many people have the olive green unless that is just the factory paint the comes with the boats and its cheaper not to repaint it. Any suggestions appreciated.

The different colors are on the website, OPINIONS WELCOME

Lou is giving you good advice. If you are hunting in heavy vegetation at that time of year, #26 is the way to go. Quite a few guys from this site have used that or a similar color on their boat. I went with Olive Drab FME on my boat because I'm often hunting sparse vegetation, and the Olive Drab is a closer match to the water color. It also makes a good background for raffia or other blind materials.

Aaron,

This is what that color looks like on a boat. I highly recommend it. I have other if you want to see just not on this computer.

If Lou said to use that color...I'd use that color. He is from that area and knows what he is talking about. The olive drab is usually a factory's attempt at camo or it's painted on by guys that hunt open water.

Ask Lou about his color combination of starcraft light and dark. His states this combination is good for blending with cattails and corn. It looked like a good pattern for you area.
