Ladies and Gentlemen, the time has come to auction off last year’s DHBP Traveling Decoys!

8aa30068.jpg

These two decoys have been all over the US and Canada hunting with dozens of DHBP members. The decoys are signed by those who hunted over them and also include their respective journal of all the stories of all the hunts and adventures these two deeks have been on.

We’ll do two auctions simultaneously, just post your bids to this thread. Please state the name of the decoy you are bidding on and your bid as a reply. Let’s start with a minimum bid of $50 (per decoy) and keep even dollar increments. We’ll run this through Tuesday, July 31st at 12 midnight (EDT). Once Eric receives payment from the winning bidder(s) I will ship the decoys (at no additional cost to bidder).

Funds raised from these two decoys will go to cover the operating costs of duckboats.net, allowing it to continue to be free of banners, pop ups, memberships or other nonsensical required fees.

Without further ado, here they are…

A little more about the "lady"..

Tube oil over hollow Michigan cedar...Rich makes a fine decoy. I've handled many of Rich's deeks, and they are all sweet, though none have near the milage 'Lady-M' has on her. Though she is showing some wear, not more than you would expect when you factor in a hard season of hunting from the potholes of Canada to the wetlands of Florida and everywhere in between...aside from a few scuffs of the paint, I'd say the ol' girl held up well.

Oh...the places she's been and the people she's met...

I don't know what the deal is with guys wanting to sign their name on a girl's butt...

And then there's 'James'...

Pine frame, galvinized wire ribs, 8oz cotton canvas, painted with a combination of enamel and tube oil.

He's a little worse for wear, good thing he was built for the abuse...as Grant put it, he's "built like a brick $h!t house"...but hey, a season like he endured only comes along once in a lifetime.

Or ducks, not that 'Lady-M' didn't see her share:

It's about old men, with cute dogs, and kayaks that have no place in a duck hunters armada:

And there's dogs with personality:

But in the end, she made her mark:

And tasted the rewards of her hard work:

Chuck,

You were doing so good,,,,,,,,,,, right up until that last photo you added. Now I'll have to disinfect her bill.

Her bill, heck, I sprayed Lysol directly in my eyes after I first saw that pic...

What a long strange trip it's been...

Who'd a thunk a Goldeneye deek would start it's season in a goose field:

Note, original post edited to reflect auction will end at 12 midnight Eastern Daylight Savings time tonight. (I previously did not indicate a time zone.)

All of you who enjoy the DHBP have an oportunity to help keep us running free of banner ads, pop ups and all those other anoying marketing ploys and get a chance ot own one of two unique decoys with a heck of a story to go with them in the process.

My personal thanks to all who have already bid,
Chuck

Congratulations to Mike Braden and Tom Scholberg on their winning bids. I'll PM you guys with payment info. Eric and I want to thank you both as well as all who had a hand in these projects.

Best
Chuck
