You know it's hot when you forget your pants -1st goose hunt of the season

Marsh & I headed out this AM for our 1st goose hunt of the season. Every year the geese seen to get smarter. Yes I know they've been shot at since Tuesday but I didn't have one goose drop it's feet down to come into the deeks. Had fly byes and fly overs but to have no birds commit is shocking. Could have been my naked legs I guess, but I was keeping them covered with a camo net decoy bag. Why no pants? Well it was 67 degrees at 4 AM and I decided to wet wade in OD swim trunks (thankfully I didn't wear the blue ones), then pull on some camo pants after setting up. Of course that only works if you actually remember to pack them.

My shooting reflected the first day of the season, but I did manage to scratch a couple of the fly overs. Wish the picture was in better focus but here's Marsh doing his thing.

He was wicked happy to be out again, as was I.

Duck hunting is so much fun especially when it is loaded with memories!
Congrats on those two you got, Scott. Thanks for the pic.

Thanks guys,

HDave, I'm not afraid of Marsh learning how to use the camera, it's learning how to post them on the internet that has me concerned ;^)

DaveM Glad to read your still alive, I hope business slows down enough for you to get out a few times. If you get a moment, on this post I was asked how the flip boards worked. Since you've actually seen them in use what were your unbiased thoughts after watching Wendel and I hunting out of them?

Chuck, D'oh I'm lumped in with Homer? Bye the bye, the Swan looked great, too bad about his bill (jk)

BillE, good seeing you today, I do look forward to getting out with you. Hunting two sneakboxes together will be great.

Scott,
Sorry I didn't get to talk much to you on Sunday it was hectic. Thanks for showing up ready to help out. As for the bill on Chucks swan you can hardly see the repair. I think it was defective anyhow. It only fell from about 3' right on the bill, I don't see why it would break. Also Chuck your swan came in second in the category.

Great job Scott. You're right about the heat. Warmest goose hunt yet. But it was worth it. The first goose I shot was banded. Great way to start the season. since then I've been out three times and haven't seen anything. I suspect they have found some corn fields being cut in a town between my house and yours.

Scott ,

Bussiness has been GREAT !! But i will always make time to get out with you guys , you guys want to come to RI this year for the decoy hunt or stay in Conn. i may get a license in Conn, this year if time allows .
