Early Pic Tuesday First Hunt for Daughter :)

Decided to take my little girl deer hunting the other afternoon and see how that went before the next morning duck hunt. She did surprisingly well for a five year old. Sat still and quiet for about two and a half hours. I think she figgured out after the turkeys left the field she needed to be quiet. After watching a field full of "mama" deer and a few younger bucks we called it a day.

Next morning the alarm goes off at 5 a.m. and she is up like a lighning bolt. After a 10 minute ride we are on the edge of an old oxbow of the Tenn-Tomm waterway and waiting on some woodies. Three shots, five minutes after legal shooting time, and we're done. We sat and watched birds come and go, some lighting as close as 20 feet in front of us.

One valuable lesson I did learn was not to take a five year old girl and a 6 month old puppy on their first hunt at the same time. Brutus, whos sire is half brother to Drake the D.U. dog, is well on his way to becoming something special. I have never delt with a British lab before but so far I'm impressed.

Words can't describe the joy I got out of this hunt. Sydney informed me that night before she went to bed that I could not go duck hunting any more. At least without her.

Thomas, my dad says I can't go out with boys until I am 30. He also said he would allow me to eat chinese food with you at 29 and 1/2 since you are such a fine young man.

Woodrow just called and said he is highly disappointed he couldn't make that hunt. Looks like one heck of a time.

Ed,
Way to go. You take that little princess out as much as you can. Enjoy and tressure every minute of it. What a great hunt that must have been for both of you.
