old lathe

I couldn't find a rule about SPAM, so I hope noone minds.

I am cleaning out my grandparent's home and have to place an antique lathe.

It is a Seneca Machine Co, Star toolmaker's lathe. Sometime in its life it was converted from pedal operation to belt from an overhead master shaft. My grandfather added a v-belt sheave. It has two 3-jaw chucks (and keys) with patent dates of 1854, a simple compound, additional gears, and original cast iron legs. It is in great condition.

I would like to place it in a museum, tinkerer's shop, or maybe a call maker's shop (I found an article about guys converting these to wood lathes).

Shoot me a PM if you can help me out.

Regards,

Bob

You can learn more about it and probably find a new owner or caretaker if you post about it on owwm.org and the companion site owwm.com. The above pictures was taken from http://www.owwm.com/PhotoIndex/detail.asp?id=222

Eric was that the lathe you were asking about someone who lives on Long Island to check out a while ago?
