It just set!

I have been outside taking pictures of the moon for the past hour and enjoying my early morning outing immensely. When the moon was higher in the sky it was extremely bright and as it approached the horizon, which would be the Magdalena mountains to our west, it started to change colors. I was using my 70-200mm L f4 lens.

You sure make me want to go out and buy a camera! Nice shots! I use to be into nature photography back in the Canon AE1 days.

Maybe some day you will want to get back into the hobby, Tom.
Now that I am retired, I can haul a camera around with me wherever I go. Didn't have the luxury of time before. I do enjoy the hobby.

John, you are being pretty nice to this old phart. I just happen to be lucky once in a while, that's all. Glad you enjoy the pics.

What kind of camera and setting

Mike, I use a Canon 7D with a non IS 70-200mmL f4 lens.

My settings were 1/1250 sec at f5.6 with the iso at 800

These were my first moon shots with this camera and lens so I'm still experimenting.

This was last evening. 1/800 second at f5.6 iso 320 All these shots were taken from my back yard.

Took these 7 pictures that are all consecutive of the moon setting. The last one is not cropped. The sun was rising in the east when I snapped these. There were some clouds in the west where the moon was setting and that is what the glow is from.
