Ramon and Habanero

I wanted to follow up on Ramon. At one time, not too long ago, this male chocolate pup was in our home nursing from his mother, Salsa. As he grew, it was apparent that he was going to catch the eye of someone yet we still didn't know who.

Then it happened---the phone call, a visit from a prospective buyer, and to culminate, the deposit to hold this yet small package of wonder and enjoyment.
Finally that day arrived when Ramon was going home. He left Socorro, NM and was kept in a home at Albuquerque, NM for a week until his rightful owner arrived from South America. Pedro then put Ramon under his seat in an American Airlines jet and they flew to Dallas/Fort Worth, TX, then on to Fort Lauderdale, FL, where Ramon met Pedro's daughter and they stayed over night to relax a bit. The following day they flew off to Miami, FL to meet another of Pedro's daughters and stayed for the night. Finally, Pedro and Ramon boarded another American Airlines jet and took off for Lima, Peru, South America. They are both now home and safe where Ramon has discovered all kinds of new smells/sounds/and giggling grandchildren's fingers to chew on. Yes, life is good.

Yesterday, Bev and I were outside working around the yard. As is the custom, I usually begin my day by opening up the loft to let my pigeons fly. Then I will eventually find many different projects to occupy my time. While we were working on setting up our statue of St. Francis of Assisi in our front courtyard (an early birthday gift for Beverly), she yelled to me and said, "You better look at this, Al." There was Habi sitting outside the courtyard wall waiting very patiently with one of my white racing homers in her mouth. This is now the 2nd time this has happened. She somehow will make a sneak attack on my birds while they are out on the grounds looking for something to eat. I told her to "stay and hold" then hustled into the office to get my camera.
Once back, I took her picture, then had her give me the bird, which I then let go so he could fly back to the loft and have a little peace and quiet! I absolutely love Habi's soft mouth! Had that been Pepper, the poor bird would have been "crunched"!
