Here are the task force recommendations for the 2013-2014 duck season.

Open Oct 5th-13th

Oct 26th-dec 15th

Thanks, Kevin~

I sent an e-mail to DEC (John O'Connor) today to see if Southeast Zone has selected date preferences. Since they moved the line last year, the NE Zone (and one of my gunning partners) is just about 10 miles north of me now. So, very easy to hunt both - as well as Champlain and Long Island!

All the best,

SJS

The SE task force hasn't met yet, they will soon. I would expect to see something soon. The 15 a day canada limit and 5 a day for Champlain for the Sept season was the big change.

We all saw less mallards zone wide, I thought they had just come down very late or traveled more to the west due to Sandy but that was not the case.

You should make contact with your zone rep George Gedney,He is the NE zone citizen rep as well as making contact with John O'conner.

To often people don't ,and the task force assumes all is well because we get no feedback or next to none.

Iceout is coming and the trout are calling.

Kevin~

Interesting about the Mallards. We had the same experience. Saw very few all season - did not even fire a shot at one until the very last day of the season. Of course, I saw thousands of them in January and February....

All the best,

SJS

Yes the end of the season on Champlain I saw good numbers of mallards, but not great numbers. I wasn't near the lake or the Champlain basin after that . Did you see birds near home?Cambridge area or down on L.I?

Bag limits and the 60 day season will stay the same.

Did your place use to be in the SE zone before the NE boudary change?

Kevin~

After the season, I saw lots of Mallards here in Washington County - generally everywhere in farm fields. I saw lots in Batten Kill and adjoining fields.

I live in SE Zone but my partner lives just north of Batten Kill - so he's now in NE.

All then best,

SJS

Kevin,
We saw a lot of mallards on Champlain last season. They did seem later than normal, but certainly were there. The spring has had a lot of birds moving up the lake as well.

Thks Dave,I was down on the lake around the 20th and saw plenty then. my wood ducks and mallards have returned to my swamp. The beavers flooded another 15 acres so hopefully the duck factory gets going. HAve you heard when Vt is going to meet on your season?
