Floatation foam sealing

I work in the corrosion business and pipelines corrode externally when the foam used to insulate them absorbs water and holds it against the steel piping. The same foam in the marine industry is supposed to be closed cell. From years of seeing corroded pipelines exposed to water that was in "closed cell" insulation I know there really doesn't seem to be a foam that resists absorbing water. That being said, I took a trip on Ole Miss on Sunday and used my stocking foot breathable waders due to the higher ambient temps. Every time I got in and out and back into the boat it was a quart...needless to say at the landing I emptied over a gallon from the boat when I pulled the plug. Looking at the glassed in foam blocks the light bulb went on. Did all the epoxy in the glass work during manufacture of my Huff box seal the foam completely. Not wanting to chance water egress into my flotation foam I grabbed a quart of the Hunter Specialties epoxy camo paint at Fleet Farm yesterday and put two coats on my blocks in the rear of the boat. You know the saying...An ounce of prevention.....or 12 ounces of paint.. Just to be certain ya know.
