The guy in the picture (an aquaintance of mine, his son and I hunt together here a lot) helped his friend get a shot at this bruiser from a tree stand this past weekend. I believe it was muzzleloader up until Sunday and rifle season started yesterday in southern Manitoba. I love to see "old" guys get good bucks.

I don't want to give any info about the specific area, but it is interesting to know that despite the fact that the place gets lots of pressure from rifle hunters every year, this buck still lived to be mature, but was ultimately outfoxed by hunters with a lot of experience. Good job!

Nice rack... but kind of small body. :)

The deer took a beating around here last year. Between the drought and then EHD I haven't heard of a good one coming out yet this fall. I need to check with my neighbor. He shot the SD state archery record about a decade ago and always seems to get a nice mature buck. Here is a link to his big one. Click here

Holy cow Tim, nice buck that guy got! With a bow no less. Someone is patient. I bet he passed up some pretty good deer waiting for a shot at that fella.

Rich, the guys scored it unofficially at 180. Its a whopper for sure!
 
Nice Mike...that's a really neat rack. I'd be thrilled with it no matter how big it scored

White tail deer hunting doesn't start in Wisconsin until Nov. 23rd and the state generally will produce record size racks and weight each year.
