Aya s/s 12 gauge

I have an older aya doubletrigger that I got from another member here, I absolutely love that gun, it fits and swings great, one of my favorite ones!!

According to everything I've read on DoubleGun Forum.com, the AYA's are pretty much the cream of the Spanish crop. As far as single triggers, I believe they are supposed to be good ones. Any idea how old we're talking?

Wis boz, AYA is a great gun, single trigger is rare. There are many grades and models. Try Shotgun World forum, there is a SxS and spanish gun section. Many knowledgable guys there. If you can post pics, better...

Thanks for the info you guys. I'll check it out. Years ago I had a Spanish o/u 12 gauge single trigger and it was a piece of chunk.

The is a wide range of quality in their guns. They do make some really nice stuff, but they also made some very low end guns. You would need to find out what model it is. The gun would not have chrome lined bores, and spainish metal is softer so you would need to treat like an older american gun as far as steel shot. Also can't say much about single triggers rare spainish guns and could be problematic

When was it made? there was a period that they were pure junk, before and after that period they are a great lightweight and great shooting guns.

I use a Model XXV sidelock for upland and love it.

Andrew, I've been debating picking up a 20 ga SXS. What was the pure junk period and how can we tell when they were made?

here is a start for some good information

Just do a little research before you buy.

The Spanish Gun Guilds had a period in the 50' to early 60's when they produced economy priced guns for import into the US. Attached is the serial number and date chart.

The bottom line on the AYA s/s 12 gauge: It is the model 100 (54-55) the only years AYA had Sears selling that gun. The gun looked brand new, came up nice and tight all over with a gold single selective trigger, shining barrels. The gun dealer said the gun was taken away from the owner after he hit his wife with it. On close examination every screw had been tampered with. The incorrect screw driver or tool had been used suggesting that there was trouble with the single trigger as Todd Tennyson had suggested. That killed the deal for me.

Sounds like a good decision passing on that one!

On a side note, that screams class to hit your wife with a Spanish double - much better than some sort of black gun or a ratty 870.
