aluminum boat project

So I been working on my newest old boat to the fleet and I got it mostly sanded down and cleaned up it was bare aluminum with cedar water stains and pine sap and years of dirt and grime on it so after a good wash some goo gone and finally using emery cloth on the sander I got it looking good. A few questions I have are do I still need to do a final wash with the 50/50 mix of vinegar and water or since I sanded can I go right to prime as long as I use self etching primer. Also can anyone give me a brand name of a self etching primer I have tried to look for it but with a 3 year old in to tow it makes it hard to read each label. Haha hoping to have this boat ready for the water by trout season.

Talk to Lou Tisch on here from Lock Stock and Barrel. His FME is awesome stuff. I don't remember if it's self etching or not.

I put Lou' s paint and primer on everything . Its real hard wearing paint. I did a bare aluminum grumman canoe with his stuff and after 5 years really no deep scratches or scuffs.

lous paint and primer ill google that now. do they sell it in stores or do you have to order it online.

Hi Chris,
I received your email. Right now I'm at my home/office and using my wife's computer. As soon as I get over to the shop and fire up my computer, I'll email info to you.
There's a pdf file on our website that has the colors available...under FME Color Chart
Holler with any questions and let me know how we can be of service.
Lou
