Still lots and lots on my workbench, with a good pile on the paint bench as well. Maybe May will be the month I get them all off the benches and into bags for the coming season. It is still frozen up here high 30's most of this week and rain but the lake is still ice covered so unlike my southern friends I don't feel much desire to go outside yet. Ill keep working on decoys. I actually finished this mallard up last month but since its an urn. I wanted to be sure the owner received it before I posted any pictures that way he could see it in hand first. I have done very few mallards so it was really enjoyable, I tried to stay as traditional as possible and hopefully in doing so create something the owner could really appreciate for years and year. I was quite honored he asked me to do it.

Love all of your decoys, but this one right here has to be my favorite of yours. Having never been on a true diver hunt, puddlers are what I am use to and this one right here is awesome.

Yes they are brass tacks. These ones are "aged" I have some bright brass ones Ill be using and will post that decoy later this month.

That's very kind of you. Other then my lingering blackduck project that I don't seem to want to finish up everything else in process is a diver right now.

That is going to be one cool bird. Love the lines already.

My phone has been quite today so far looks like I will get in the shop this afternoon.
 
This is 2 out of 5 widgeon that I recently completed. They are my first all wood decoys and first widgeon. Up until these I had only done foam bodies with wood heads. They are hollow Red cedar bodies with basswood heads and Teak keels. And Brandon I agree with all of the other comments that mallard is awesome.

 
Dave - It will start a new era of buoy bird. The collared goose found a new home last weekend. Hopefully, this preener will be an inconspicuous diver magnet... Time will tell... Pat

Tom, the tack eyes are from http://www.crazycrow.com just search for brass tacks I use the low dome.

Pat, that eagle head is just great. I have yet to see the one your carved for Andrew but I am looking forward to hunting over it this season.
 
Very cool! That is a Serro Scotty on the cover! Looks like a 13' model.
Yes, the duct tape was put on to keep rain from entering until I got it back to Mobile and also while it is waiting repair.

Neal way to go trying your hand at all wood. They will do the job for sure.

Most of these should have been listed as on my work bench in July through now.

a bird that I am just free handing. I was given the white cedar in Strongsville to try out. laminated western red cedar head.
