Bev's in Wisconsin

With that thought in mind, I decided to take "her" dog out to see what she was made of. This is the 5th time I have worked with her since we brought her into the house at 7 weeks of age.

This is also the very first time she has had to retrieve a bumper in the water. Normally Chip is by her side but not this morning. As you can see we have a problem with silt down here. What looks like 12 to 15 inches of water is really 2 to 3 inches of water on top with a "slurry" type mix below consisting mostly of a heavy silt. That happens a lot when we get those heavy down pours and the water has not much of a chance to sink into the soil aka sand.

I was really proud of Serrano and what she did today. When we got home I cleaned her up.

The first time I looked at this picture the first thought though my mind was, "Can anyone ID this specie of dog?"

Well for a 7 month old pup who hasn't done much retrieving, I'm very pleased with the raw talent that she possesses. Maybe in January I can sneak her out to the duck pond at the ranch. I'll bring her mom, Habi, along to help her out.

The last picture. She stepped into a hole and this is the way she looked when she came up.

There's a lot to be proud of there Al. I just wonder if you will have the courage to show Bev the pics when she returns home. Great looking pup.

-There's not a person in THE WORLD who would say you were doing wrong by taking such a good dog out to show her such a good time!

This pup's enthusiasm should serve as a reminder to all of us that there IS joy to be had in the PRESENT moment!

It did me good just to scroll through her afternoon.
Thanks for sharing, and good luck with her.

Looks like someone was having fun! Just got the OK to keep a little female from our litter. I took her to watch the girls field hockey and got her to retrieve a pair of balled socks. Let the fun begin.

Yeah let us know what Bev thinks of those photos. :)

Once again nice job Al. I really enjoy your photos and share them with my wife. She is also back in Wis. helping a friend set up her classroom. Third graders start on Tuesday.

and yeah, we can identify the type of dog: only a DUCK DOG could have that much fun retrieving and playing in the water!!!

Great pics Al and what a pup you got there...
Shermie...

Oh Boy Oh Boy does that look like fun. Are you trying to raise Serranos IQ by making her yellow? (that should stir the pot). Thanks for sharing your shenanagins, Bev will understand. Kinda like what happens with my B squad Charlie. Good thing labs clean up easy.

So far, Rich, I have sent the pictures to her son in Appleton, WI, however Bev hasn't mentioned seeing them. I wonder if that is a sign?

Looks great Al!

You might have enough time to clean all the mud of her before Bev comes home.LOL

I have hosed her down, Doug. Amazing how quickly she looked as if she had never been in that muddy pond.

I enjoyed what you had to say, Martin. Well said. Just prior to Bev's departure we did have a short conversation (rather one-sided) that went like this; Bev, I think it would be important for people who buy puppies to know that Habi and her daughter, Serrano, "your" dog, both love to retrieve.

I could tell she thought that was a good idea.

Keith, I'll bet you know which one you want to keep. Why don't you post a picture? I'd sure like to see it. You are right---the fun will begin!

Thanks, Paul. I'll bet your wife had fun helping her friend set up that classroom. I do remember those days however I do realize how much I love retirement.
