Pat, as my 12 year old nephew said at a family event where I served marinated, bacon wrapped whistler and bufflehead breasts as the second course after some teal and wood duck versions, "Shoot, Uncle Jeff, dog turds would taste good if you marinated them, wrapped them in bacon, and grilled them!"
We don't see many spoonies, so I haven't tried it with them yet.
I will say that my best efforts have failed to make hooded merganser taste good. Edible, yes, but I'm glad I only take one drake for fly tying each year.
