Thanks everyone. I actually was a little reluctant to post a pic of the Grouse.
Steve I just wanted to carve the Grouse. I'm giving one to my Brother to put in his camp and the one on the dowel I'm giving to a friend of mine who's a Maine Game Warden to use to catch what I refer to as GAR's (great american road hunters) hopefully he stops them before they actually shoot it out there truck window. Who knows we may see it on an episode of Northern Law.
Rick following a Setter is a Great day spent in the field.

Nice Woodroe Rick, I like it! Wood or Cork?

Carl the grouse are cool. Just think of the stories you'll have if some road hunter blast one.......? Maybe we will see it on "North Woods Law!" LOL!

Here's some Gaddies off the bench.........

Thanks jode its cedar , I have a cork version sealed and ready for paint along with a bunch of others . Been busy ! They look at home sitting by the stone

I finally got back into it today after a two month hiatus. I found some foam near a creek today and got it setting up with epoxy. Worked on a canvasback head a bit. Felt pretty good to be doing something besides working on the house or beating my head against a tree in my futile attempt to kill an fing turkey.

I had gotten discouraged after a couple of birds I made a while back that just didn't turn out. But I purged the evidence of my ineptitude and am headed back into it with a renewed vigor with a keep it simple and make them round attitude.

Kevin, you and me both.....I have located lots of birds, but nothing in the crock pot yet......a very tough year, but there is time left. A lot of buddies have killed birds ( a few with some of my calls) so I have been living vicariously through them!

Bill...LOVE the eiders....especially the middle bird...the one leaning forward...what a great posture that is........please post them again when they've been painted..

Steve

Lots of great work already!

This head is the one I carved for the Bean's rehab I posted a few days ago. Since I was happy with the new pattern, I re-painted it see how it would look with a bit more detail. I have already carved another to put on a bird of my own.
