You want a blow by blow story from SE Asia?

Gentlemen,

I am set to split on Monday at dawn.

To S.E. asia.

I will be bout a month. If you are interested, I can share the tale.

Should be mostly food and girls. Some dog training stuff and some fishing out back behind the homestead.

Let me know if you are interested and I'll make it so.

Glad you cleared that up!!!

Yep, I for one would love to see pics and read stories!!

Wrapped up things at the restaurant tonight. We are wiped out. a year of non stop work.

I suppose I'd better pack in the morning, as anya has been ready to roll for 5 months.

She is taking 4 suitcases of stuff. I have a small alice pack with a couple pair of underwear, some drugs, and some topwater fishing gear.

I hope we can get out of the valley on monday. The fog
can be a show stopper here.

You guys will need to think good thoughts for me, as I will be 1 man with three dogs and 4 women over there. I'll do my best to report all of the good stuff.

Leaving Medford Oregon before dawn.

To LAX

Layover for a refreshing drink.

Then off to Korea.

Proabably have some noodles there.

Then off to Bangkok.

Then we'll hitch a ride in a minivan to Samut Sakhon.

After that we'll head to Wat Krok Krak. It is the temple next to anyas house.

Probably have to take a tuk tuk for the last few miles.

It'll be hotter than hell.

but it will good to see my girls smile.

At 0330hrs we rolled out of bed
loaded the gear and rolled to the airport

was nice of mom to help us out as far as getting us there

i said my goodbye and wished her good luck in the mean time

made the flight from medford to LA in about 2 hrs
pretty bumpy

everyone spilled their drinks
me included

a chardonnay baptism in the pre dawn

Lax was huge and we opted to have a couple of golf cart rides to get to our gate
rather than walking the whole way

met a nice guy name sam adams at the terminal
he was refreshing and interesting

now we are about 8 miles high and over the pacific

i don’t mind the airport so much.

Thus far in all my flights to to Thailand,

all of the men are well behaved and the women are slender and pretty

it could be much worse

i mean,
imagine if you had to fly on wal-mart airlines.

the damed thing would never get up off the ground

and if it did
it’d fall apart over the ocean

I am bringing a bunch of spinnerbaits and topwater frogs. Brought 1500 meters of #10lb mono and 175 meters of 20 lb tuffline in case I find something substantial.

I will have to figure it out I reckon.

Going to miss the big red dog, but he'll be taking care of mom, so all will be well.

Keven, I am not certain that it woul be appropriate for me to call them hot. Since they are "My sisters" They certainly are kindly and pleasant, so I guess that helps.

Todd, didn't you post pics several years ago of a trip to Burma or Thailand? I think i remember something like that--especially the Kwai River Bridge...Am I remembering correctly?

Regardless, please have a great trip!

Todd~

Since "girls" really means "sisters" I am guessing "drugs" really means "medicine"......

Have a great time!

We left Medford international Airport (with a total of 3 gates) and arrived at one with over 200!

Incheon South Korea. It was a zoo.

The food was pretty good on the plane, and the girls serving it were downright pretty and pleasant.

They all looked like they were whelped out of the same litter though. All of them looked exactly the same.

Some nice guy gave us a lift in a golf cart sort of apparatus through a long tunnel and that saved us a hump with our gear into the unknown.

I nodded in and out of sleep as anya's sister was nice enough to fetch us from the airport once we got to Bangkok (about a 40 minute ride.)

I walked to the temple a couple of tiimes today, and tried to stave off my jet lag. Me and the girls went to get some stuff for the house.

There was a food court, but I am pretty frigging spoiled.

That is how it is when you are married to a thai cook... I ain't complaining. though.

The soup was pretty good, got some cold drinks and saw some smiling faces.

I walked up to some guys near the temple docks and they said "Where is your unit?"

I looked at my crotch and looked at them and said "what?"

Then I realized that they thought I was military.

I had on all of my knockabout gear which is surplus, because it is cheap, and it lasts a long time.

I let them know I was just a civilian and was taking a walk for my vacation. they seemed to understand.

I gave them a respectful goodbye, and they did same.

We had a great thai Barbecue at the house (which is where you have a clay pot filled with charcoal and cook squid and crab etc.)

I am lucky because Anya is a fluent english speaker, and her Little sister Pim Is nearly so.

Little sister Paew is learning english and can converse pretty well.

Big sister Kaew, not a lick of english, but she gets along on smiles and kindness.

I Can not reall how to take the youtube video and put ii up on here, so you may have to copy and paste it to see the bbq.

Black Cock by Duncan Tennyson, on Flickr

You'll all be relieved to know that there are several varieties of liquor. You can have red cock, or really get crazy and opt for a pint of Black Cock.

Later on I walked off the dinner and hit the temple grounds for a gigantic festival that is in the works.

There was a monumental hatch of bugs that must have been in the hundreds of thousands.

what a day

Good stuff! Reminds me of visiting Japan.

BTW, maybe start a new thread each time, gets hard to follow once a post gets so long.
The video link was for the bugs. Where they some kinda mayfly???

Rolled out of bed at 0530hrs and stumbled down the stairs.

Everyonee here has dogs, at least one.

Some are fiercly territorial of their spaces, and can be downright sincere in their greeting as you approach their perimeter.

We've got 3. A sweet little brown mutt named Muuy, I am not certain she's ever barked at anybody.

Then there is Fong, he is a well fed mangey hound like dude, he eats well and is quite protective.

And finally, my Son, "Sanook" I found him about 3 years back as a pup under a corrugated pice of metal along the roadside. He wanted to come into the perimeter, but Anya's sisters were not certain.

So i just brought him in and started throwing the ball for him.

He was eager to retrieve, and really eager for chicken skin.

He's a complete badass, skinny as a rail still and just fierce.

He must of had some sickness when he was just starting out that somehow changed him physiologically. He hasn't got much cork to him, but he gets around it via his spirit I guess.

Nothing can get the perimeter without him knowing and telling everyone.

So I got 3 dogs and 4 girls. I've either got it made, or I am a gonner.

more later....

I think that the bugs were a lacewing variant. They had rusty red throraces and burlap colored wings.

Little sister said they only live one day and they die, so I would assume they have a pretty good time when they all get up and fly around like that together. I mean, wouldn't you?

We are working on the property behind the house on the river, These guys have to do everything by hand, since there is no road to haul in anything bigger than a hand cart.

Hard working folks.

Innovative as well.

The dude in charge designed these heavy duty goose carts to get stuff done.

Pim is a good passenger too.

Looks like I've got myself a derelict too.

Imagine that, a derelict with a derilict!

Seems a fitting end for the both of us.

The moon is nearly full. see it tonight?

Last night me and Anya walked to the temple down the road.

It was absolute chaos, there is a gigantic festival going on.

There were kids in bumper cars, and ferris wheels and a million vendors.

Everyone is driving on the wrong side of the road, and it takes great skill and luck to just cross the road.

Folks stare at you when you are the only white dude in town.

Talk about total sensory overload. Smole from satay stands and fried duck, and all kinds of foods you would never believe.

It is a totally different world.

Somehow it remains on the same planet we are all on.
