Zip tie question

I have always used the 8" black zip ties to grass up my blinds. But I have noticed that the white ties cost about half of what the black ones cost. Would it really matter if I used the white ones? It looks to me that they would pretty much disappear in all the burlap and raffia.

The white ones are snow camo. I have used them with no problems. You could spray paint them if they really stood out or maybe just rub some mud on them to tone them down a bit.

The real differance in them and reason for the cost differance is the BLACK ones are Sunlight and UV resistant for outdoor long term use.
The white dont have this in the plastic so they will eventualy become brittle over time.

Dave has his stuff straight. I used the white and they broke in a yr. I found some brown ones at my local electrical supply and and on the pack it states they're uv resistant. That's what's on my blinds now. I can actually look at the colored cable ties and see they are thicker than the white ones.

Dave...is that why they taste awful?

I used about 1000 of them this year to make blind panels and damn if I couldn't shake that taste for a day or two.

That must be why one can of skoal can last you for years:^)

And besides Dave.....you are supposed to cut them off with a pair of dikes, not your teeth:^)

That taste is probably the lead they use in the black dye :0

Really though, the heavy duty white ones are great for anything you expect to leave in place less than a year, for things you expect to keep as is longer, the black ones are worth the extra money. I go through thousands of these each year at work (both types) and the cost difference will really add up.
