Floor question

What is the boat made from? if its Aluminum, there may be the possibility of it corroding from contact with the copper in the pressure treated wood, espically with salt water. If both are painted maybe it would not be an issue, or atleast slow it down. This is just my non-expert opinion though.

Andrew,

I've had pressure treated wood contacting the ribs of my aluminum boat since 2002 and no issues, but, it's the old arsenic based pressure treated, not the AC2 type. I've been told the AC2 is more corrosive to Aluminum. With that being said, I would think you would be able to "insulate" with rubber or thin foam so you're not in direct contact. I've also used Stainless screws to attach it.

NO!!!
Do not use the current PT wood with an aluminum boat.
There is a good chance the salts used to PT the wood will make Swiss cheese out of any aluminum it comes into contact.
Don't chance it.

Just use a normal AC grade plywood, give it a couple coats of primer, especially soak the edges, then paint. This is how I did my floor, its 5 years old. Even if I replace it now its still a good return on a $30 piece of plywood.
The non-slip rubber coating will help but keeping it dry & the boat covered between trips will make it last longer..
