August Workbench

Thanks. I used Steve Sanfords tutorial from his website and his paint colors. He has some great info.
Now going to try some redhead hens next.

What happens when goose season is about to open, you have a dozen unpainted Herter's, and a son who wants to hunt geese and has no decoys? Well you get a kid motivated enough to pick up a brush and start painting. I trestle coated a dozen Herter's geese with epoxy and grit-o-cobb and never got past priming them. They've been hanging in the rafters at my shop collecting dust. They will see use for sure now. Tomorrow a couple buddies are coming over to help him finish them. For reference material they found decoys by some guy name Sanford on google.

Eric, You turned me on to cob and epoxy some time ago, i like the results. Will be hunting with 8 herters model 81 geese with that finish this season.
Before painting i sealed the cob with varathane clear sealer, probably not necessary but it is another coat of protection and allows the paint to go on easier.
By the way i have once again plagiarized that Sanford guys work as to painting style.
