I am not finding an original image on the internet.... Did the 72's use the "diver" head, or did g'eyes have s different mold?

Thank you Hank. That's what I thought.

Internet keeps bringing up "classic" Herter's catalogs. Couldn't find the spread from the post '80s color days, and it doesn't seem like a lot of people have them, or at least they don't post pictures of them. A lot of plastic blocks, but true 72s from factory with diver head was a no show in my searches.

Thanks!

Good morning, Rob~

Herter's just used Bluebill heads on their Model 72s and 63s. (Long story there....I have the old catalogs but also wrote to Herter's in the late 60s when I was 15 or so - ordering just Model 72 bodies so I could put my own heads on them).

If you want the correct shape, Homer Decoys sells Whistler heads in Model 72 size. Were I making a rig, I would use Homers - and mount some as "stock" highheads and slice the neck off some to mount as the iconic tucked head position that Goldeneyes seem to like.

Actually, with Herter's Model 72 heads, I have been known to soften the necks with my torch so I could tuck the heads a bit. Note the 2 birds on the left:

All the best,
