Photo Test

Well, that didn't work! Is there a way to use links to web-based accounts like Flickr to post in-line photos, or do I need to download them all, resize, and post individually?

Backstory--we were plagued by wildlife on our Yellowstone trip this year. This pronghorn pretty much ran us over in the sage brush while we were bushwacking into a cutthroat stream. Passed within about 10 yards of us, despite us talking, pointing and clicking cameras, and generally looking like dangerous humans. Also had a close call with a badger, and more than a few nice cutts.

Not much for landscape photos this year--it was smoky and visibility was bad most days.

Jeff,

I think, THINK, regardless of the location, you should be able to select "Upload Image".

From there, select the location of the file, click on file.

Before selecting "Finish", make certain you have selected "on-line" for file placement.

Thanks, Rob. Trying the "Insert Image" tool on the advanced editor. It appears to let me select a URL and insert it, but the image doesn't show up in my mark up or the preview.

Tod, the unedited and unculled images are here. Lots of chaff still mixed in with the wheat. More will be added over the next several days. I have been informed that "fish pictures come last"!

See, I CAN link a website, just not a photo posted there, so I am not a complete techno-nincompoop.

You can just upload them from your computer, there is no longer a need to resize them!

Thanks Carl. I know that, but in this case that means I have to download photos now stored on a Flickr account to my hard drive, then upload them back to DHBP.

I was hoping there was a way to link directly to the photos on Flickr.

Picture link.

Jeff,

Not certain if you get the same copy/paste menu on Flicker. When I went to the picture I cliched the "Share" Arrow. Then selected the BBCode and copied the BBCode link.

At duckboats.net, select the image icon and paste.

The image did not appear on the message prior to my selecting "Post", it only showed a small thumbnail style image icon.

Hope this helps!

Rob

OK, let's see if the old dog can learn a new trick. Here's the vicious badger who chased me off the three large cuttthroat I'd been casting to for 90 minutes. I might have stayed there until I died of dehydration and got scavenged by the local grizzlies and wolves if he hadn't popped up and made me think another pool might be more congenial. Little bugger snarled at me. That's a first for me from a non-domestic animal. He was maybe 20 yards from me and even closer to my wife.

And a landscape shot for Tod. This was the pool I went to after the badger chased me away from the pod of fish I couldn't fool.

There is a nice cutt hanging under those overhanging branches, taking something from the surface about once a minute. It will look at a foam grasshopper once but not come very close before refusing it. It will go hide for 10 minutes after the second drift of the hopper. It will come out repeatedly to take a look at a decent copy of the size 12 mayflies that are occasionally floating by, but it won't actually eat one. (It will eat two naturals while you try, though.) When, in desperation, you break out the magnifiers and tie on a size 20 ant, it will snap it up like a lab on a dropped breakfast sandwich.
