Stay safe with Nate. I know he's not supposed to be a monster like Irma or Maria but stay safe and hope your fresh new arrivals of ducks don't get blown away......or that they get blown over here and stay

Carl, the forecast looks like a near direct hit for you, no?

Get things battened down, and send some of that moisture northward after it's safely past you. My brook trout need a slug of water to end the drought so they can migrate to spawn, and my little wood duck pockets are all dry. If the current forecast holds, it looks like we are in for a big dump of rain Monday into Tuesday.

Thanks Dani!
It looks like we're on the bad side this time, I expect we'll see winds from 50-70 mph here with higher gusts.
I've secured stuff in the yard and covered our skylight.
Charging up all our devices and getting the camp stove out just in case.
I imagine the some low-lying spots along our bays & bayous will see flooding, expecting a 5-7' storm surge.

Worst part for me is that this will probably knock the heck out of our grassbeds.

Not a direct hit, but we are on the eastern side, which is worse!!

I imagine you'll get rain out of this Monday or Tuesday.

Dani and Carl and any other DHBP members in Nate's way:
"Lord, we ask you to show your mercy on Carl and Dani and so many others as this hurricane/tropical storm makes landfall. We ask you to spare their lives and the lives of our citizens in that area. Send your angels to guard and protect if danger comes near. In Your Name. Amen."

We came through with nothing more than lots of little branches and leaves down in the yard. But it sure did get windy between 2am-5am. Not sure if we have hurricane force, but definitely close.
Never lost power for more than a few minutes at out place, but the other side of the street is out (on a different line).
There was a 4-7' storm surge in Alabama, I have not yet seen damage reports from down on the beaches or around the bay.

Good to hear, Carl. Hope the rest of the Gulf Coast crew made it through ok.

About mid afternoon today we could feel the weather shift. Don't know if it was hurricane-related, but the wind shifted to the S, the temperature climbed 10 degrees, and the humidity shot through the roof. I'm guessing some serious moisture is headed our way.

Glad to hear you had nothing really big from the storm, Carl.

Jeff, our temps here went hiiiiiiigh too. The humidity was killer this weekend and this morning. I wouldn't mind the rain sticking around here since we need it but the humidity can go.
