Arrowed my first buck.

feels good. He ran about 120 yards right towards my truck and piled up in the hayfield. Didn't have to drag him an inch!! This is my biggest buck to date, and my first with the bow. My wife bought me the fancy pants new bow last Christmas, and the practice paid off. Now I will be on doe patrol and enjoying the fall duck hunting a whole lot more often now that Mama will have the venison steaks she has been bugging me for!

That warm weather hunting does have an appeal. Nice shooting. It does take the pressure off to have one in the freezer.

Congratulations Paul, My first one was about that size, i was proud as you are. Good eating deer. You are hooked now brother.

Congrads on the clean kill. Love processing the deer, I'm fussy and do it with the wife. Steaks, stews and sausage. Leggs sausage mix is great [buy on line].
OL' hunter told me one, you can't eat the horns, does are just fine... Too old and fat to climb trees. miss it...

I've only shot a spike and a doe before this. we are in a management area now, so I will be on the lookout for any available antlerless deer!

My dear wife has been ragging on me a bit for even wanting to kill a buck, she demands a doe. I will close that deal before the end of season at some point here!!

Ya did good, and a true trophy in my book. Two thumbs up!

Old buck and old doe ain't for the best eatin'. Unless ya like ground meat, and all the other things made from the meat that do not taste like venison.

Even Arby's is selling Venison Sangwiches these days...

Great feeling and better eats!

no kidding! I was all worried and worked up because I didn't hear him crash on what looked like a perfect hit, he piled up right in the hayfield. I only drug him closer to the edge to dump the guts in the tall grass. gotta love that.

135# gutted weight, I was surprised he wasn't a little heavier. He has a similar goofy antlered "twin" that looks to be of the same lineage and age but with a narrower rack.

Nice dropping one close to the truck. Never did like the long drags. Hunted up state NY and really didn't want to kill one. I hunt on Long Island [ really flat ] and usually close to the road. Work starts now, Time to butcher now...

Crossbow!! Next you will be raging on me to get some robo ducks or put a scope on my .50 Hawkin. The debate rages on. Once I get out of here then MAYBE there could be one of those funny things that geezers use in the archery season. I also am a big fan of dropping deer next to the truck. Truly I need to earn to use what I have better. Nice buck pal.

Theres no shame in being old and crunchy. It's like shooting a rifle 50 yds or less in warm weather! Plus then I'll be able to get you a powerchair so you can come out in the woods with me! [w00t]
