I got robbed

Legally robbed I tell ya. Just made a round trip to CT. and back. Paid right at $70.00 road toll charges. Pretty sure I pay a road tax at the fuel pump. Oh, that's right, the toll is not a tax, so it's not double taxation. (rant over) Price of fuel as you get further East, is topic for another post. grrrr

and you didn't stop in?!?! You were probably 10 minutes from the house.

The invite must have gotten lost in the mail. [whistle]

Half hour after finalizing the deal, I was out the door. Made over 800 miles before the first nap. Finished another 430 miles, hooked the boat up and headed west. Got a few miles down the road and checked everything. Oil bath hubs on the trailer, one was reasonably clear oil. Other side was milky, showing signs of water contamination. I made it home but probably should have bought some fresh oil, drained the hub and refilled. I'll have to see if the bearings suffered any damage.

Seriously, too bad I didn't know you were that close. I'd could have had you do the oil change. You would do that for a senior citizen, right?

Yeah that pretty much meets the requirements of “exciting”!!

I'd say even if you paid what the gentleman was asking for that BBIII with all the accessories including a $70 toll charge you got a pretty damn good deal. That's a fine looking rig.

Oh Dave, you're so funny. Most of us are quite familiar with tolls, you on the otherhand, obviously aren't . The last time I went to NFLD pulling a trailer the toll bill was $198. NY is the worst.

Congrats on your new boat, one of the best duck boats for the conditions we experience on the Big Muddy.

Did you yell "Get off my lawn!" to any kids when you got home? Jeez, old guys. Go take a dump.

Tim

Looking at the location, yep, 10 minutes out of your way and I had what you needed to do the hubs. :).

That boat looks great - enjoy it!

Screaming deal, Dave. How'd I miss that? My gas would have been about 1/10 of yours, and I have an EZ pass so would have paid about 50% on the tolls.

But thank you for your contribution to eastern road repairs.

Thanks guys, I think, oh I'm feeling the love from the page alright, love but no respect.

Ed,
Thought about you as I drove by on the way home. I no longer have your phone number so couldn't give you a call. I'm sure I was within 10 minutes of your home, had to be.

Pete,
I've paid many a toll over the years. Used to do a spring run to Erie every year for Walleyes. Now, just because I pay them, doesn't mean I like them.

Tim,
Kids were all in school when I got home so didn't get the opportunity. I'll yell extra loud next time and maybe throw a stick or two their direction for good measure. Can't let them think I'm just an old softy.

Tod,
Oh, so you would have let ME use the tools,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, I see how it is. :>) feeling the love still.

Jeff,
You snooze you lose. Here in Iowa we have no need for EZ PASS,,,,,,,,,,,, you're welcome to come visit at no extra charge. We are just nice like that all the time.

Carl,
"Sure, what do you need??" What's your point? I didn't NEED another boat either, but that didn't keep me from making the trip. :>)

Dave, I don't remember dad and mom paying tolls back in 1951 when we were out east. I do recall the pizza pie we ate, though. Were the folks cordial when they took your money?

If you are ready to get rid of that boat, Jim Bosanny maybe looking for a BBIII...

I can sell him this one if he wants to pony up the finders fee. Just means you would have to come over and help me build one from scratch.

Al,

I'd say; I don't know about what it was like in 1951, as I was a newborn in diapers in 1951. BUT I won't say that as it opens up a whole new avenue of abusive responses. To answer your question, yes they were very cordial.[sly]
